A day after tweeting that he was just getting started with crypto and asking for advice, NBA star Stephen Curry then announced a partnership with FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried’s fast-growing crypto platform.
“I’m happy to partner with a company that uncovers the crypto space and doesn’t intimidate novice users,” said Curry as quoted by Fortune, Saturday (9/11/2021), marking his first investment in the crypto industry.
As part of the deal, Curry will receive a stake in the company and become an FTX brand ambassador.
The company will also make an annual contribution to the Eat.Learn.Play foundation, which is run by Curry and his wife.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Eat.Learn.Play and its community partners have served more than 17 million nutritious meals to affected Oakland children and families.

Curry joining FTX further adds to the list of people in the sports industry who are entering the cryptocurrency realm.
Previously, FTX had reached a 19-year, $135 million deal for the Miami Heat arena naming rights in May 2021.
In addition, the stock exchange owned by Sam Bankman Fried has signed a deal with football star Tom Brady who becomes the brand ambassador in June 2021.
The deal also contains a charitable element, as the company pledges to donate 1 percent of the net fees to charity at the FTX Foundation.
